PLC – programmable logic controllers Developments for Diagnosis, Monitoring and Data Collection
The wide spectrum of machines made by Plasser & Theurer and our customer-orientated development philosophy has led to the fact that a great number of different programmable logic controllers (PLC) and visualisation systems are available today. Therefore, to achieve an enhanced user-friendliness, the decision was taken some years ago to focus the development on a system that would meet all special requirements. In association with a renowned company in the railway sector, a control system was developed which meets the highest demands in terms of compactness and reliability. The control system complies with Standard EN 50155 which refers to electronic equipment on railway vehicles and their operating controls, design, set-up and testing of electronic devices as well as describing basic hardware and software applications. The system software is developed and serviced in compliance with the V model in accordance with EN 50128-3/2001 (IEC 62279:2002). This standard describes the process of the software development for railway control and monitoring systems. All projects carried out by the research and testing department/automation division are developed according to these requirements. For the new Plasser & Theurer control system the fact that both standards are fulfilled ensures that the highest quality standards are observed in the software development. Therefore highest reliability can be guaranteed.
