The Plasser PTT 2000 is a specially designed tamping machine used in conjunction with conventional rail gangs or tie replacement gangs. The PTT 2000 is fitted with a built in “Nipper” device which holds the tie tight to the base of the rail while two specially designed, four tool tamping units (8 tools total) tamp the tie. Its compact design and light weight allow flexible transport via highway truck.
